F2 Rename selected item
CTRL+RIGHT ARROW Move the insertion point to the beginning of the next word
CTRL+LEFT ARROW Move the insertion point to the beginning of the previous word
CTRL+DOWN ARROW Move the insertion point to the beginning of the next paragraph
CTRL+UP ARROW Move the insertion point to the beginning of the previous paragraph
CTRL+SHIFT with any of the arrow keys Highlight a block of text
SHIFT with any of the arrow keys Select more than one item in a window or on the desktop, or select text within a document
CTRL+A Select all
F3 Search for a file or folder
CTRL+O Open an item
ALT+ENTER View properties for the selected item
ALT+F4 Close the active item, or quit the active program
CTRL+F4 Close the active document in programs that allow you to have multiple documents open simultaneously
ALT+TAB Switch between open items
ALT+ESC Cycle through items in the order they were opened
F6 Cycle through screen elements in a window or on the desktop
F4 Display the Address bar list in My Computer or Windows Explorer
SHIFT+F10 Display the shortcut menu for the selected item
ALT+SPACEBAR Display the System menu for the active window
CTRL+ESC Display the Start menu
ALT+Underlined letter in a menu name Display the corresponding menu
Underlined letter in a command name on an open menu Carry out the corresponding command
F10 Activate the menu bar in the active program
RIGHT ARROW Open the next menu to the right, or open a submenu
LEFT ARROW Open the next menu to the left, or close a submenu
F5 Refresh the active window
BACKSPACE View the folder one level up in My Computer or Windows Explorer
ESC Cancel the current task
SHIFT when you insert a CD into the CD-ROM drive Prevent the CD from automatically playing

END Display the bottom of the active window
HOME Display the top of the active window
NUM LOCK+ASTERISK on numeric keypad (*) Display all subfolders under the selected folder
NUM LOCK+PLUS SIGN on numeric keypad(+) Display the contents of the selected folder
NUM LOCK+MINUS SIGN on numeric keypad(-) Collapse the selected folder
LEFT ARROW Collapse current selection if it’s expanded, or select parent folder
RIGHT ARROW Display current selection if it’s collapsed, or select first subfolder

Notes

  • Some keyboard shortcuts may not work if StickyKeys is turned on in Accessibility Options.
  • If you are connected to Windows 2000 through Microsoft Terminal Services Client, some shortcuts have changed. For more information, see the online documentation for Terminal Services Client.

You can use the following keyboard shortcuts with a Microsoft Natural Keyboard or any other compatible keyboard that includes the Windows logo key (?/font>) and the Application key (3).

You can use shortcut keys to view and explore Web pages, preview pages before printing, use the Address bar, work with favorites, and edit.

F11 Toggle between full-screen and regular views of the browser window
TAB Move forward through the items on a Web page, the Address bar, and the Links bar

ALT+HOME Go to your Home page
ALT+RIGHT ARROW Go to the next page

ALT+LEFT ARROW Display the previous page to be printed
ALT+A Type the number of the page you want displayed
ALT+RIGHT ARROW Display the next page to be printed
ALT+END Display the last page to be printed
ALT+MINUS Zoom out
ALT+PLUS Zoom in
ALT+Z Display a list of zoom percentages
ALT+F Specify how you want frames to print. This option is available only if you are printing a Web page that uses frames
ALT+C Close Print Preview

IE6 - Using the Address bar
Press To
ALT+D Select the text in the Address bar
F4 Display a list of addresses you’ve typed
CTRL+LEFT ARROW When in the Address bar, move the cursor left to the next logical break in the address (period or slash)
CTRL+RIGHT ARROW When in the Address bar, move the cursor right to the next logical break in the address (period or slash)
CTRL+ENTER Add "www." to the beginning and ".com" to the end of the text typed in the Address bar
UP ARROW Move forward through the list of AutoComplete matches
DOWN ARROW Move back through the list of AutoComplete matches

CTRL+D Add the current page to your favorites
CTRL+B Open the Organize Favorites dialog box
ALT+UP ARROW Move selected item up in the Favorites list in the Organize Favorites dialog box

CTRL+X Remove the selected items and copy them to the Clipboard
