XP provides built-in zip support so that you can open compressed files as if they were folders.
However, if you use a third-party program, such as WinZip, the built-in zip handling of XP might
get in the way.
To disable native XP’s zip support, perform the following steps:
- Select Run from the Start menu --> Enter
- regsvr32 /u %windir%\system32\zipfldr.dll
- Click OK
- Restart the computer
To (re-)enable XP’s zip support, perform the following steps:
- Select Run from the Start menu --> Enter
- regsvr32 %windir%\system32\zipfldr.dll
- Click OK
- Restart the computer
