Tip 129: Kick Start Disk Optimization

Windows XP moves the important parts of your commonly used applications to faster sections of your hard drive to decrease application load times. The only catch is that it does this every three days.

To kick start it, go to the run command and type in the following:

Rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks

Press OK and your HD will immediately start reordering your applications.

This will also start any other tasks the OS has scheduled.
